Designer or Dupe?

Many of us would be dripping in designer if the price of some handbags weren't the same as a downpayment to a decent car or house. That being said however, people want the designer clothes without having to pay the designer prices which is where the counterfeit/dupe/knockoff culture came from.

When it comes to designer clothes, you are paying for the name of the brand not just the quality of the products. Now I'm not going to name names but because you are paying for the brand name, designers may take ordinary pieces and just slap the company insignia on it and suddenly a plain white tee with a logo on the front can go for $300.

Now this is not the case for all designer brands and pieces because more often than not you are paying for the name and the luxurious quality. However, as I mentioned previously people want to keep up with the latest trends and rep the hottest brands but can't always afford it, so they opt for the replica. Now I don't always agree with the outrageous price tags that designers can get away with marking their products for but I'm also not a fan of dupes. I don't think it is fair to the creators and designers of a brand to be ripped off and others making a profit off their ideas and products.

Like most people, I like to keep up with the newest trends but add my own style to it. I opt for the non designer route but that doesn't mean I go to a vendor and buy a bag that vaguely resembles Chanel but I find cool pieces that are still compatible with current trends. I think it is better to develop your own unique style than buying dupes just to be able to stick to the norm.

Take this quiz to see if you can tell the difference between dupe or designer!
